WATERFORD PRESIDENT RECOGNIZED BY LOCAL YMCA FOR VOLUNTEERISM
RESTON, Va. - Waterford Development President and CEO Mr. Jan A. Zachariasse
was recently named 2005 Outstanding Adult Volunteer by the YMCA of Loudon
County for his notable contributions and efforts to help the local branch
expand and become a more prominent presence in the community.
"Jan's volunteerism is an inspiration to us all," says Ms. Niki K. Piersall,
Director of Sales and Marketing for Waterford. "His service exemplifies
Waterford's philosophy of putting people before profits, by building relationships
with the communities we live in and build in."
Zacharaisse has been a driving force in promoting community involvement
by fostering an environment of corporate philanthropy at Waterford. When
Waterford relocated to a new office, the company donated all of its used
furniture to the Loudon County YMCA. Waterford also supports the annual
Loudon County YMCA 10K run and Chocolates Galore and More events.
"Initiative and vision. Those are two words that come to mind that
describe Jan," said Wendell Fisher, Executive Director for the Loudon
County YMCA. "He has been a consistent and diligent supporter of this
YMCA for years, which has resulted in a much stronger association."
Zachariasse has been involved with the YMCA since he arrived in the U.S.
from his native Holland and the Y served as his temporary home away from
home. He has served on the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington Association
Board and currently serves on the YMCA Loudon Board.
